Our Missions

Badminton Lachine is a non-profit organization aiming to be a key player in badminton in Montreal. Its mission is built around three main pillars:

Promote

Badminton to the residents of Lachine and the surrounding areas by offering programs and activities accessible to all.

Allow

Easier access to the sport for all age groups in optimal conditions.

Participate

The educational and athletic development of children in Lachine and the surrounding areas through sports.

Respect

The Club is committed to encouraging all individuals involved, directly or indirectly, with the organization to treat everyone they encounter with respect and consideration, to respect the equipment, and to accept the decisions of Badminton Lachine.

Sharing

Members of the Club are encouraged to share their resources and knowledge to help grow Badminton Lachine together, placing cooperation and team spirit at the heart of projects, above personal interests.

Ethics

The individuals involved in the club must respect the principles, values, and code of conduct of Badminton Lachine and the sports community, which includes all stakeholders in badminton.

Our History

2010

In September 2010, Stéphane Fortaich took over the organization of badminton for the citizens of Lachine, a sport that was at risk of disappearing. He quickly gathered a group of passionate volunteers, including René Breyel, Vickel Coossa, Steve Gagné, and Julie Bérubé, to organize the first Badminton Lachine Classic. This tournament, with the help of the Bon Départ Foundation and Black Knight, brought together about fifty players, both young and adult, and marked the beginning of a sporting tradition.

2011

In 2011, Badminton Lachine became a non-profit organization. Thanks to strong partnerships and the commitment of volunteers, the club gradually expanded its offerings, setting up courses for all levels. Young players progressed, supported by dedicated coaches such as Mike Ngo and Thi-Van Luong. Adults, eager to refine their technique, also benefited from tailored programs.

2013

In 2013, the club organized its first provincial event, the “Invitation Lachine,” marking an important milestone in its development. Over the years, Badminton Lachine has become a key player in organizing selection tournaments for the Lac-Saint-Louis region, while remaining a model of volunteerism and community involvement.

2025

The club has won several awards and distinctions, both for its players and its volunteers. Today, Badminton Lachine is an example of teamwork and innovation, and the club continues to dream of finding a “home” at the future sports center of Lachine.
